December 11 Advent and Elf

Advent Calendar: Buy a Christmas Movie or CD
Dylan's choice, the classic, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.  Which is funny that it fell on this day, because a few weeks ago at church they interviewed a few kids for Christmas clips. They show the clips leading up to service (like 5 minutes before service begins).  Today, Dylan debuted his funny clip.  They asked, what is your favorite thing about Christmas...."we eat reindeer" "what does that taste like" "it's kind of yucky" "how do you make it" "you mix it with sausage"  Where does he get this stuff?  And for the record, we do not eat deer at this house.

The elves got a little pranky last night.  They drew on the mirror a mustache, a beard and a cowboy hat for Dylan's face when he looked in the mirror.

 Hi Dylan and Natalie,

Guess what! We found a cow who was in the stable that night that Jesus was born. We asked him to write what he remembered from that special night.

My name is Benny.  I’m a cow.  I want to tell you a special story that
happened a long, long time ago. I was in the barn with the other animals.  We were eating our hay for supper when I heard the door open.  Suddenly, two people came into the barn.  It was a man and a woman.  The woman was very big.  I could tell that she was going to have a baby soon.  I wasn’t sure why they were sleeping in a barn.  The other animals guessed that our master did not have any more rooms in his house.

After a while, all of us settled down to go to sleep.  It had been a long day and we were ready for bed. Suddenly in the middle of the night, I heard an unusual sound.  It sounded like someone was hurt.  I pricked my cow ears to listen.  The noise was coming from the woman.      What could it be?

I looked around and saw that the woman was having a baby!  I heard the man call her name.  It was Mary.  The man’s name was Joseph.  He was so good to her.  He really helped her as she was having the baby.
What I can’t wait to tell you is what happened next.  The baby was a very special child.  When He was born, a bright star suddenly shown above us outside.  Then, angels came and sang beautiful songs.  It was amazing.

I knew that God had done a miracle that night.  He gave us His Son, Jesus.  God loved us so much that He sent His Son to help us.

Thanks to Benny for telling us his side of the story. Awesome!

Love,
Batty and Peppermiz

And we made good on an earlier advent and went out for a special treat
