Savings at the HT

The local Harris Te*ter stores are having a double coupon sale for coupons up to $1.98. I was really excited as I got lots of good stuff at their last triple coupon sale but this time I didn't find that many deals that I felt I needed. I made out with a few things though. Seems like their sales weren't that good this go around, oh well, you do what you gotta do.

2 Danno Activa yogurt 4 packs - on sale for $2.00 ea, coupons for $1, doubled to $2 (FREE)

Thump Thump

As I settled in to bed the other night, I tried to unwind from my night of volunteering for the hopeline. Often times, I think about my callers, their reason for calling and the outcome of the call. Before I drift off to sleep, I pray for them.  This week, I included in my prayers, the team that is currently in Malawi and then our team who will be leaving in 2 1/2 weeks. As I started to realize how close it really is, my heart started pounding. It was pounding so hard and so fast, that I thought it was going to jump right out of my chest. The pounding echoed in my ears and vibrated my chest. I am so anxious to leave, that it's becoming a little surreal that it's so close. I have been waiting for over a year for this trip, and now, it's here.  I know that I will not come back the same person. God is going to show me some amazing things and move my heart in ways that I cannot imagine. I know that it's going to be hard for me to put into words and share with everyone, but I will do my best and hopefully be able to capture as much as I can on camera. I invested in a missions journal and will do my best to write everyday what's going on in my heart and mind, so that I can share it with you when I get back. (I may or may not be able to access internet while I am there. If I can, I will try and post some things.)

If any of my readers are prayer warriors, please lift up our team in prayers, daily. Thank you so much! You can never have too many people praying for you.

Happy Father's Day

There's no love like that of a Father's love. Apparently Dylan knows this, because he screams "Da Da" all the time when Damien is home. If we come in the house, I will say go find Da Da and he runs off to the office. He loves his Da Da.  I just wished he would throw in a Ma Ma every know and then. Damien is smitten with him, in this there is no doubt. I love seeing them giggle and play together.

Coming from a daddy's girl, I know that if Damien and I ever have a girl, she will be smitten with him and have him wrapped around her finger. I know this because I speak from experience. My mom told me a story a few months ago that still makes me chuckle when I think about it. Apparently, my mom was on her way to go shopping and I asked her to get me a bottle of perfume. (I am guessing that I was in middle school and said perfume was Liz Claiborne that came in the triangle bottle. That was all the rave when I was younger.) She told me that she wasn't getting it, that it was too expensive. Apparently, sweet Daddy, went out to the car to tell my mom to buy the perfume for me. Wrapped around my little finger.  Thanks Dad, for always sticking up for me :)

50% savings

I did a little grocery shopping at Kr*ger today and I thought I'd share my savings. Unfortunately, I didn't get to take a picture, so a detailed description will have to do. Granted, I am not that great at this, so I am sure that a few of my readers could have shaved off $10 or more, but I take what I can get. The key to savings is stockpiling, and that's what I did. Granted a few items were must haves, but some I just stockpiled because they had a good sale.

6 roll (pick a size) Scotts Towels - $3.99
2 - Dawn Essentials dishwashing liquid - .49 cents each
2 - cans of pork and beans - $3.34 (need to make baked beans for a BBQ we are going to)
2 - 2 pack gerber sippy cups - $2.99 each (BOGO)
edge shaving cream - $1.25 (2/$4 with coupon)
Kroger brand instant oatmeal packs - $1.99
Yoplait kids yogurt - $2.60 (forgot to check for a coupon, grrr)
2 Oscar Meyer Turkey bologna - .84 cents each (BOGO with coupon)
Oscar Meyer lunchable - $1.50
Turkey lunch meat - $2.95
3lbs ground beef - $5.26
John Frieda root advance shampoo - .50 cents (BOGO with $3 off coupon)
Maybelline Mascara - $2.49 (BOGO)
Private Selection deli meat - $1.96
Bananas - $1.18
2 - Arm and Hammer laundry detergent $5.98 (reg price $7.99, sale price $2.99)

Total $48.15  Savings $44.73  - so if you don't count the tax of $4.53, then I saved 50%. Not too shabby.

Watch my Garden NOT Grow

Yes, he looks sweet and innocent, but he's not. Dylan's favorite play area outside is in the bushes and small little garden area. Don't ask me why, but he is drawn to it. In the late afternoon, that area is shaded, so it's fine by me for the most part. However, I wish he wouldn't pick at the lambs ear, the lilies and anything else he can get his grubby little hands on.
