Fun at the Fair

We didn't get to make it to our county fair this year. We didn't have the time with the election happening that week and then the kids came down with herpagina. Yes, herpagina.  Sounds pretty bad right?  Really it's just hand foot and mouth without the blisters on there hands and feet.  It was miserable. They couldn't eat or drink anything.  Thankfully after a week, they were as good as new.

Instead of our fair, we went to the Wilson County fair. We've heard that Wilson is awesome and it did not disappoint.  We surprised Dylan by taking him. When we pulled up, he said this doesn't look fun.  (It was the parking lot) but then he saw the rides.  Their kid area was huge. We didn't even get to do it all.  We ran out of time as Dylan had a long run the next day so he didn't want to be out until midnight. Every party has a pooper.  :)

Dylan had a blast with all the rides.
Mommy got a wristband too so I could ride with him.

Unfortunately, Natalie wasn't big enough to ride any rides this year...but look out Wilson County Fair. Natalie will be all over it next year.

I am surprised Dylan liked these swings. They went pretty fast. I was a little scared. I hate fair rides.
It was a great night and we can't wait until next year!!

Back 2 School Bash

A few years ago, I mentioned to Damien that I wanted to run for aldermen for our city.  He suggested I start off with something smaller, so I did. I ran for our community's HOA board. Yes, I became the person most people hate. Whatever though, someone has to do it right?  Well I have really enjoyed it. Yes there are times that I want to punch someone.  hahaha....but it's been really rewarding.  For the past 2 years, I have served with someone that I would consider one of my closest friends, Kirsten.  Our paths may or may not have crossed otherwise, but I am grateful for her friendship.  Do endure all the negative comments, the crazy residents, internal board conflicts, it was all worth it for this friendship.

Well our board is still relatively new, only 2 years old and this was our first true social event.  Our first annual back to school bash.  I had slide duty for the first hour and thankfully, everyone came later and Dylan had the slide all to himself for about 45 minutes.  Talk about fun!  This slide was so cool.

Natalie enjoyed the shade sipping a cold beverage :)

Later when the slides and pool started getting packed, Dylan was no longer a fan. What? I have to wait in a line!  Can we go home?

Damien and the kids jetted out early while I stayed around.  It is after all probably my last social event being on the board. I decided not to run again and I am prayerfully considering running for alderman. My slogan just might be "Leave it to Weaver"  Ha!

First Day of School

Dylan was selected to be a part of the early childhood program at Longview Elementary.  This is the school he will be going to next year for Kindergarten. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to teach him respect and patience for friends not just like him (it's a peer/special needs class room) and a way to ease him into big school.  He will be going everyday but Wednesday for 3 hours a day (during Natalie's nap time I might add).  I cannot wait to see how he grows and what he learns from this experience.

We were excited to find out that we knew someone in the class.  We met Dylan's friend at swim lessons this summer.  Here are the boys making their snack bags.
Natalie was happy to see big brother off to his big school :)
Things were really chaotic with all the parents and the kids at orientation, but on top of that, Dylan was not on any list for any class.  Finally after walking from room to room, we settled in Mrs Amy's room.  Here's to a great school year.

Kiser for State Rep

I made a big leap into the world of politics this year.  The older I get, I feel the more I want to be involved in politics.  I have always voted (every election, primaries included), but this would be a big adventure for me. I was asked to be on a campaign team.

Our friend, Dennis Kiser, felt called to run for state representative for our new district.  Since I was from Fairview and lived in Spring Hill (that covered most of the district), I hoped to make some connections for him. I was ecstatic to have this opportunity and to learn more about the behind the scenes of politics.
Yes, he joined the race late, but we were determine to do everything we could as a campaign team, to get Dennis elected.  We knew that he would be a perfect fit. He was blessed with an amazing group of volunteers and our saturdays were busy with door to door knocking ( a lot which were in the middle of the summer, YOWSERS) .  Weekly meetings until midnight  and lots of emails, phone calls, etc throughout the week.  I wanted to be there for the Kisers in any way that I could because they are amazing people.  We love Dennis and Cindy so much and the heart that they have for others and for God.

I am thankful for everything that I learned and the experience, not to mention, I met a group of people who are pretty fabulous.

Dennis was the underdog the whole race since he joined the race late and he was not taking any PAC or special interest money. His fundraising came from your every day voter, which was the opposite of the other guys running. Dennis took risks and made bold moves like calling into local talk radio shows which the other candidates did not do.

In the end, Dennis did not win, but he obeyed his call and gave it his all.   Dennis really feels that this experience will give him more credibility at the capitol where he has a led a weekly bible study for the past 3 years.

We celebrated at our house at the end of the election.  We were honored to be part of his journey.

Family Fun Night

There's nothing like a little fun night with cosmic bowling and video games. However, the fun became chaotic and mommy was just left crazy.  After one game of bowling and eating our pizza, we called it a night. Lesson learned, call ahead to make sure it's not league night and that the wait is not ridiculous after you have driven 40 minutes to get there.  sigh.  Dylan and his friend Bryce had a great time being silly :)

Horrible pic but the only one of Natalie...had to prove she was there too :)
