Along with the advent calendar, I am doing a version of elf on the shelf for the little ones this year. It's not like most peoples as our elves do not go to the North Pole every night. Our elves don't watch over the kids nor do they report to Santa. Instead, they just do fun stuff and leave notes. (so mine is a little more involved but I am okay with that) The notes share a little about the Christmas story or why traditions are what they are. I am excited to share the Christmas story with Dylan this way (and eventually Natalie) so I hope he remembers what the elves tell him.
Last night our elves made their first real appearance (he was with me when I purchased them at Hobby Lobby and had played with them around the house), but first they needed a name. We had told Dylan he could name his and I would name Natalie...he was coming up with nothing, so come to find out, they already had names. (okay so I found them names by using Dylan and Natalie's name and generating elf names. I introduce to you Batty Twinkle Toes and Peppermiz Twinkle Toes.
As you can see, the elves decided they wanted to make snow angels in the sugar. As for their first note, have a look see.
Hi Dylan and Natalie,
We are your elves, Batty Twinkle Toes and Peppermiz Twinkle Toes. Like you, we are brother and sister. We love the snow and love to make snow angels. How about you?
We are so excited to share this Christmas season with you. and can't wait to share the real meaning of Christmas with you, the birth of Jesus Christ. That's where we will start in sharing...Christ is a name we call Jesus and it's in the word CHRISTmas. See it?
Oh and during the month of December until Christmas. You can't touch us. After Christmas, you can play with us any time that is until December 1st. See you around.
Love,
Batty and Peppermiz
