December 10 Advent and Elf

Advent Calendar : Drive around and look at Christmas lights
This was the perfect thing for today as Dylan had a fever.  It didn't require much energy just the ability to sit and look.  We have lots of people in our neighborhood who have gone all out, so we didn't have to travel far.

The elves wanted to have more play time, and since Dylan was sick and slept in our bed, they snuck upstairs to his room.

Hi Dylan and Natalie,

Did you know that Jesus was born in a stable?  A stable is like a barn, it's were animals sleep and where their food is kept.  Wanna hear how he got to be born in a manager? It's a long story, and by long, we mean distance. It was a long way away from their home.  Joseph and Mary had to return to Joseph's hometown of Bethlehem for a census (they had to be counted). In order to get to Bethlehem, they had to walk. Back then they did not have cars or planes or even trains.  Bethlehem was a 2 day walk from Nazareth.  I can only imagine how tired they were when they got there, but guess what, they didn't have a place for them to stay the night.  Every place they went was full but they found one person who had a stable that they were willing to let Joseph and Mary stay the night in....and that's where Jesus was born.  Even though he is a prince, God allowed Jesus to be born in a cold, smelly stable. God had a big plan for all of this.

We can't wait to share more with you later.

Love,
Batty and Peppermiz
