Pumpkin Carving

Our friends, The Harris', invited us, and others, over for lunch and some good old fashion pumpkin carving after church. They filled our bellies with corn chowder, chili, pumpkin bundt cake and witches' hats. (how cute are these)

After lunch, we started on the pumpkins. The kids got their own pumpkins to paint

(I chose this pic since you really can't see any of there faces...to protect the innocent)
While the adults carved pumpkins.  I have to admit, it has been a long time since I have carved a pumpkin, so I was a little worried how it would turn out. Seriously, I cannot recall the last time. It must have been when I was a kid, and I really didn't "carve" it since I probably wasn't allowed to "play" with knives.

Dylan helping me clean out the guts (eeww he says)
The finished pumpkins (a few of them) Our pumpkins are the two on the left.
Damien did the Alabama one and I did the winking face one.
Our pumpkins lit up
Thank you for inviting us, we truly had a great time. If it weren't for you all, we probably wouldn't have carved pumpkins on our front porch.

Your pumpkin is so good! I haven't carved a pumpkin in years -- because it's embarrassing when a pumpkin carved by a second grader looks better than mine!
