Today, I completed a training course to be a substitute teacher in Williamson County. It was about a 3.5 hour class, and while it was very informative, being a type A personality, I could have sat there longer and got more information. I like to be prepared and to be honest, I am a little nervous. Sure I was in the corporate world for 6 years were I led conference calls that had up to 200 people on them, and I teach in the children's ministry at our church for 90 minutes, but this is a different animal. I think after my first assignment, I will be less nervous, or so I hope. I could have my first gig as early as tomorrow, but more than likely it won't be until next week or the next seeing I won't be in the system "officially" until then. I signed up to teach in Spring Hill, and Independence high school is my last resort. Not sure if I am ready for that. I remember high school all too much and how the subs were treated. Plus Damien's a little nervous for me, he thinks some kid might get mad and punch me in the stomach, but I don't really have that fear. I prefer the little kiddies as you can always fudge things with them and they are so much more fun to be around. I know that some of my readers are former teachers, so if you have any suggestions for me....I am all EARS!

I can tell Baylor's teacher your name... and his last years teacher... that should cover Longview and Heritage and I have a teacher friend at Bethesda...anything else I can do for you...
Here is your tip... always go with your own bag of treats and randomly throw them out as positive reinforcement...the younger ones...starburst (or the like) the older ones ( milky way... or something like it...but try to stay away from peanuts and peanut butter some schools do not allow it)
Let me know how it goes...I have really been considering doing it too! Since both kids will be in school in August I thought it might be cool to do...and a lot less intense than getting my teaching degree.
Have fun!!!
