Big Boy Bed

Before the baby comes, we wanted to make sure that we had Dylan's big boy bedroom finished.  We started looking at furniture in September and finally settled one a bed and a dresser.  We placed the order mid October and were told that it would be in 4-5 weeks.  I told Dylan that his big boy bed would come soon.  We went through a stretch where every night he would cry to sleep in his big boy bed, only to tell him that it's still in the "mail".  I would call and check on it, only to be told that it still hasn't arrived. Finally, the sales person checked on the order and the 4-5 weeks was all one big lie (okay maybe not a lie, but totally misleading).  It finally arrived at our house 8 weeks later.  Which gave us plenty of time to paint the room and wait, pick out the comforter and find curtains (which was not an easy feat).  I said that I was not going to do a theme room. I would do something simple and plain for the comforter and then determine the theme through the art work.  After purchasing 2 comforter sets, I was not happy and returned them, only to settle on a comforter with a theme....one which Dylan loves, dinosaurs.  We choose to paint his room in 2 colors, a bright green and a rich blue.  Blue and green are Dylan's favorite colors, so it worked out perfectly.  The curtains were a bit harder to find as I wanted black out curtains and to find the right color seemed impossible...but not impossible for me...ta dah, they worked perfectly. Then I painted a "D" to hang over his bed....D for Dylan and dinosaurs.

He has plenty of room on the other side of his room for his train table. I am going to get my friend to paint a 3 panel painting of a dinosaur for this wall. Right now, it's just to plain.  I will have to post a pic of it when it's completed.
Then there are the pictures that Jill painted for Dylan's Yo Gabba Gabba themed birthday party.  I absouletly love them and wanted to put them in his room.  Since they don't match the dinosaur theme (and it would drive me crazy if they were in his room) I hung them right inside his door so they are part of the room, but not really. I know, I have a little OCD.
The same time we painted his bedroom, we painted the jack and jill bathroom that adjoins Dylan's room with the nursery.  We went with a monster theme roomed and green on the walls.  Perfect for Dylan as he loves monsters and loves green.
For a few weeks after we completed his bedroom, before bed time, Dylan would say "let me show you something". He would run to his old room, the nursery, and say "this is not my room anymore" and then run to his big boy bedroom.  He loves it.  One day, I gave him the choice to either take a nap in his big boy bed or take a nap in mommy's bed with mommy...he choose his big boy bed by himself.  Any either time, he would have chosen mine so he could snuggle with me.  If Turbo or Sophie get on his big boy bed, he'll ask "does Turbo love my big boy bed" "does Sophie love my big boy bed" then it would be followed up with "do you like my big boy bed" "does Daddy like my big boy bed".  He is so proud of his big boy bed.

If you can't tell the bed as a book shelf as the headboard and I am not creative, so I am taking suggestions on what I can put on the shelves. I really don't want to put books, at least not a whole lot...so please help.
