In addition to the regular post, I would just like to reference how stubborn Baby Weaver has been, so when (s)he reads it in the future, (s)he can laugh. Two weekends ago, my friend Lori gave birth to her son Lucas. She was due the day before me, but ended up getting induced as she had been on bed rest and 80% effaced for a month. Not to mention Lucas was weighing in at 9 lbs already. I was so wanting to be in the hospital at the same time as her as I thought this would make a good memory. Since I was dilated to 3 and 50%, I thought, this could happen. The day that I went in to labor with Dylan, I went to the doctor and I was a 3...so no problem, right. I began to do all the wives tales that you have heard of, well maybe not all of them, but you get the point. I ate eggplant parmesan. I had pineapple. I ate spicy foods. I got raspberry leaf tea to drink...nothing. Once the weekend passed, I gave up. It's just much more convenient to have a baby on the weekend for our family and work schedules. At my next appointment on Wednesday, I was dilated in between a 3 and a 4. Great, some progress. I had the doctor strip my membranes to help with the progress. I thought I'd get geared up again for the weekend and put myself in labor. I tried some additional things that were supposedly more effective and not just wives tales. They actually sort of work, but didn't produce a baby...but I did have some small contractions. I even walked about 3 miles that weekend and lost my mucus plug. SIGH. It's such a let down to wake up and think, nope it didn't happen yet. This week at my appointment, I was dilated to a 4 and about 70% effaced. She stripped my membranes again. We talked about what I wanted to do. Did I want to wait and see if it happened or be induced. I could be induced as early as the following day (Thursday). She said that I was really favorable to be induced as I was doing great but I'd rather not be induced so I went with getting an ultra sound to make sure everything looked okay with the baby's fluids. Everything looked great (and no, I didn't see the sex). Now, the waiting game begins...when will it be? If I don't have this baby by Monday, I have decided to be induced as we have family coming in next Friday to see the baby. We may just have us a valentine's baby. Secretly, I am hoping for Friday though. It would be cool to have a birthday of 2/11/2011. We shall see. It stinks that all the birth date guesses on the baby pool have all passed.
