Dylan had his first visit to the dentist this month, and he was a better patient than I expected. We talked about showing the dentist his hippo mouth, and he didn't let me down. As soon as we walked in the door, checked in and Dylan flashed his hippo mouth to the receptionist. Dylan enjoyed playing and watching the movie before going back, but once back, he wasn't so sure about laying down to watch the movie on the chair/bed. However he did let the hygienist clean his teeth for a bit until he realized the gritty paste was in his mouth then it became difficult. I didn't like the hygienist saying, if you cry, you don't get a prize. I wanted to say, he just turned 2, what do you expect..but I kept my mouth closed. He let her floss his teeth and even let the dentist check his teeth over. We made our next appointment and I hope that this introductory visit makes the next one easier.

I am so with you about the hygienist comment. She could have enticed him with the prize at the end rather than threaten to take it away. Poor kid. I'm just impressed he let them do all that at two years old!
