Meet Comet (named by his current family) because he was born on Christmas day, so he and all of his siblings were named after reindeer. I find this comforting because growing up, I had a dog named Comet who was an irish setter/ golden retriever mix. Comet and I were thick as thieves, ok maybe not that thick, but I loved him so much.
This Comet, which we are leaning towards naming Griffin, will be a handful no doubt. He's a golden doodle, and will be Turbo's size. Turbo is getting older and we know we probably have him for a few more years if we are lucky, so we want Turbo to train Comet/Griffin. Let's face it, Turbo is the greatest dog ever. Everyone that meets Turbo loves him, even people who aren't crazy about dogs, so hopefully Turbo will not be a grumpy old man and do his part in this deal. (Turbo and Sophie have no idea that their world is about to be rocked.)
We decided to go with a puppy from a breed that would be great with kids. After all this will be the kids' dogs, so we wanted a dog that would be fearless, loving and playful. We've heard nothing but great things about doodles, so we are excited. We really wanted to rescue, but with our kids being so little, rescuing can be a little unknown. We've rescued up until this point and will continue to do so again as we know that's important.
If you see us walking around like zombies for a few months, that would be the newborn phase all over again. Hopefully, Comet won't chew up furniture like Turbo did, when he chewed up a rocking chair's rocker or my favorite sandals, my coat and God only knows what else Turbo ate.
More to come on Comet/Griffin once he's home next weekend. For now, you get this look of anger with a little side of crazy...hmmm, he may fit right in with the other toddlers in the house when he doesn't get his way. :)
