T Minus 3 weeks

I cannot believe that I only have 3 weeks. Well, I can, but I can't. I feel like these last few weeks have gone by so slow, but the pregnancy all together has flown by.

To be honest, I am getting a little nervous about the whole experience, even the hospital stay. I was thinking yesterday, I haven't stayed overnight in a hospital since I was like 6. It's going to be an awkward feeling confined to a room. Then there's the whole labor part. I hope I can manage the pain for the most part. I would really like to go as long as I can before I get an epidural or even go without one, but let's face it, when it comes to pain, I am a wimp. I never really get sick nor do I get headaches, so when I do get sick or have a headache, I am pathetic. Then don't even get me started on the nerves behind delivery. I know it's normal to be scared, but I think it will really start hitting home when I go in for check ups and I am dilated. Terror will set in. What to do, what to do....

On another note, I have started packing my bag, in the event that I go early. My neighbor has given me some ideas on things she enjoyed taking with her, but wondering if my fellow readers have any suggestions on what I should bring to make it a better experience.

Definitely bring chapstick (you can thank me later for that tip) and gum or mints(Damien and your visitors will appreciate it). Also bring flip flops...Hospital floors skeeve me out! I just made my list today. Maybe I should email it to you.

Take along some of your favorite snacks! Not so sure about hospital food....
Socks! Hospitals are usually cold to me....
We will be praying for you. Don't worry too much. You'll know what to do when the time comes with so much of motherhood! It is really cool to see how God hard-wired us for some of these things.

I am going out of town this weekend. Don't have that baby while I am gone (just kidding)! I want to come visit you at the hospital.

I say bring your own pillow and definitely Chapstick (good call Dana).

Ditto on the chapstick and mints...for sure socks too! Never leave home without your own pillow. And I am a card carrying flip flop toter...they go to hospitals, hotels, camping...anywhwere where I have to shower when not at home...I know, I'm weird!
I say bring lots of chocolate, a couple valiums and maybe some hard liquer...that should get you through the labor part anyways! Just Kidding!!!

No really, it will just fine...God really did give us the know how...somehow when it is happening you just know what to do...don't worry.

Here is a tip for Damien (learned from my sis-in-law). Under no circumstances is he to eat any smelly food during the labor hours. Suddenly the small room and your feelings do not mix and something as simple as a hamburger from Sonic can be a BIG DEAL! If by chance you are in a long labor... find another place to eat.

I agree with everyone, definitely chap stick, socks, snacks, mints and your own comfy pillow. If you want anything else let me know and I will bring it to you.
Don't worry you will be fine (easy for me to say since I have done it so many times). You and Damien are going to be great parents.
