It's been a long time since we could actually say that we got snowed in. Here in the south, schools tend to cancel school on the premise that the weather forecast has predicted that we will be getting 2 inches of snow. Often times, school gets cancelled and there is barely a coating on the grass and nothing on the roads. However this past week, schools were cancelled Thursday night to prepare for the the first southern blizzard of the new year. This time they were on the money for doing so. It snowed hard and came down fast. We got a few inches and the overnight, we got some sleet which gave the snow a nice hard ice layer on top. In all, we probably got 6 inches of snow (pre-ice) which made it about 4 inches.
Dylan was really excited to play in the snow. We had some snow earlier in January, but he had his fever at the time. We never made it out of the house, but this time, he saw the snow and was saying...snow, snow. We borrowed a snow suit from our neighbor and bundled him up. One of my friends gave me a pair of our son's old rain boots and I thought those would work, but they were huge. We tried just normal shoes, but they were not giving him the proper coverage on his ankles and legs since we had so much snow. His socks were getting wet. I asked my neighbor and she said that I could do plastic bags taped around the bags, so that's what we did. Yea, they may look a little redneck, but they worked just fine. Plus, we didn't have to spend $30 on a pair of boots that we'd wear like 4 times. Laugh all you want, but it worked.
Our neighbor was kind enough to lend us one of their sleds (have I ever mentioned that we have the best neighbors ever) otherwise we'd be sledding down on a cookie sheet or a tupperware lid. Dylan had a great time sledding and playing in the snow. We even tried to build a snowman, but Damien and I just didn't know how to do it. One of our friends said they couldn't either, so we didn't feel as stupid.

When it was time to go in. Dylan of course cried. I thought the kid loved the beach, but he equally loved the snow....now I don't know where we should live. We cut his boots off of him and took of his jacket, all while he was wailing around.
The next morning, some of our friends who recently moved in down the street came down with their sleds. Dylan had a blast riding their sled, it was the mega sled. There for a while, he was constantly getting on it to go down the hill, but finally lost interest in it and just played and did other things.

We got about 4 days of playing in the snow and the forecast is calling for more snow this weekend, but I don't think it's going to happen. At least, not like our last snow fall. It was fun while it lasted.
